Dr Ivona Lađevac

Senior Research Fellow

Dr. Ivona Lađevac, Senior Research Fellow, joined the Institute of International Politics and Economics in 2001. From 2008 she is in charged for international cooperation, while from September 2017 until July 2021 she was a Head of the Center “One Belt, One Road” when promoted into Deputy Director.  From 2022 until June 2024 she was  Editor-in-Chief of the journal “International Problems”. Since June she is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the “International Problems”.

 

She graduated and earned her MSc Degree at the Faculty of Political Sciences Belgrade University (department for International Relations), while her Ph.D. got at the Faculty of Security Studies with thesis on “Strategic Partnership of Russian Federation and People’s Republic of China within global security context”. Dr Lađevac also completed specialization in European studies and attended seminars on strengthening capacity of public administration, labor migrations in the Balkans, strengthening capacity of the cross-border cooperation, preparing project proposals for EU funded projects, as well the United Nations summer school about challenges to international peace and security in new millennium.

Dr. Lađevac was co-coordinator of IPA project “Debating Serbiaʼs European Future: The Voice of Civil Society in Decision- Making” realized in 20210/2011 by the European Institute from Sofia and the Institute of International Politics and Economics.  Currently she is Research Project Manager of the ongoing IIPE project “Serbia and Challenges in International Relations in 2024”, financially supported by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia and principal investigator of project “Contribution to modern partnerships: the assessment of Serbia’s relations with the EU and China (COMPASS)”, financed by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

She has participated in many international conferences and authored numerous scientific papers, including three monographs, editor and coeditor of several thematic and international conference proceedings. Her main research areas are contemporary international relations, focused to relations between China and Russia, the Belt and the Road Initiative as well to cooperation between China and CEEC’s.

Since July 2022, Ivona is a member of the Governing Board of the International Center for Research and Training in Science and Technology (CISTRAT) of Chinese Academy for Science and Technology for Development and from November 2023, a member of the International Board of the Center for Global Changes established at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of “Saints Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje (Northern Macedonia).

Fluent in English, possess good knowledge of French and studying Chinese language.
