Education:

Liu Zuokui, PhD in History (2005).

Liu once was educated at School of History Studies of the Capital Normal University.  In 1999 he got the Bachelor degree of World History Studies, and 2002 he achieved the Master Degree of World History(European Diplomacy History) and 2005, he got the Doctor Degree of World History(European Diplomacy History). Due to his hard work, his Doctor Dissertation was rewarded the Best Doctor Dissertation after the academic assessment by the academic committee in 2016 in the University.

Working experience:

Liu Zuokui once worked at the Division of European Politics, and as the Deputy Head of Division of International Relations and Division of Central and Eastern European Studies in the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Since 2014, he was the Head of Division of Central and Eastern European Studies and in April 2021 he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Institute of European Studies, CASS. From June 2024, Dr. Liu is Director General of the Institute of World History of the Chinese Academy of Historical Sciences.

Research interest:

Liu’s major research interest included: Central and Eastern European Studies, Balkan Studies, European Union Integration Studies, China-EU Relations and EU-USA relations. He once was the visiting scholar of Mannheim University (Germany), Aoyama Gakuin University (Japan), Polish Institute of International Affairs (Poland), Latvian Institute of International Affairs (Latvia) and Hungarian Institute of International Affairs and Trade (Hungary). He has a very rich experience in Central and Eastern European region.
