Dr. Milan Bartoš was a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, and one of the most prominent Yugoslav experts in international law. Professor Bartoš was a full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, as well as a corresponding member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Professor Bartoš was a member of the United Nations Commission on International Law, as well as the Chief Legal Adviser at the Yugoslav State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs until 1962. Since 1945, Professor Bartoš participated in SFR Yugoslavia’s delegations to United Nations meetings. He published over 200 research articles and policy papers in international law. His most important works are: Expositions on International Commercial Law, Commentary on Bills of Exchange, Legal Status of Foreigners, and Public International Law. Milan Bartoš was the recipient of two prestigious Yugoslav awards – the Seventh of July Award (1961) and the AVNOJ Award (1967).
