H.E. Ms. Anke Konrad, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Serbia, delivered a lecture entitled “Germany and Serbia: The Way Ahead” as part of the Institute of International Politics and Economics flagship “Ambassadors’ Forum”.

Ambassador Konrad reflected on the long-standing partnership between Germany and Serbia, with particular focus on economic cooperation, investment opportunities, as well as Serbia’s path towards membership in the European Union. In this context, she reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting reforms based on European values, and democratic principles. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of continued bilateral cooperation and regional integration, underlining the need for coordinated efforts in building a shared European future.

In a wider geopolitical context, the Ambassador addressed the European Union’s role in light of contemporary global challenges, such as climate change and cyber security. As these shared challenges were identified as areas requiring coordinated and systematic approaches, she called for a unified and resilient European response that recognizes the Western Balkans as a vital partner.

The lecture was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, public institutions, the academic community, and researchers from the Institute.
