The Institute of International Politics and Economics, in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the China Media Group, organized the event “Common Development, Shared Opportunities: Global Dialogue”.
The ceremonial session featured addresses from Prof. Dr. Branislav Đorđević, Director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics, Mr. Shen Haixiong, Chairman of the China Media Group and Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Ms. Adriana Mesarović, Minister of Economy in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. Višnja Rakić, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Youth and Tourism, Republic of Serbia; and H.E. Mr. Li Ming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Serbia. On this occasion, the undeniable role of China in shaping the vision of a “shared future for humanity” was underscored, along with the tangible efforts in politics, diplomacy, science, culture, and tourism that contribute to making this overarching vision a reality.
The working session of the event was marked by discussions on various aspects of contemporary Serbia-China relations, with particular attention given to the establishment and development of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, the significance of the Free Trade Agreement from 2024, and the fruitful cooperation in the fields of mining and technology. Additionally, the discussion addressed the global economic environment and the (re)activation of protectionist measures, as well as the implications of these evolving trends for Serbia’s future positioning in international economic relations, particularly with China and the European Union. Expert insights on these topics were provided by Dr. Nenad Stekić, Dr. Aleksandra Tošović Stevanović, and MSc Jovana Nikolić, researchers at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, as well as MSc Jelena Gledić from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade.
