The Institute of International Politics and Economics celebrated its patron saint’s day, Saint Simeon the Myrrh-streaming. The ritual of blessing the feast gifts was performed by protopresbyter Branko Topalović, the parish priest of St. Michael’s Cathedral, Belgrade.
This year’s host of the celebration, Milan Veselica, МА, highlighted in his speech the significance of the character and work of Saint Simeon, i.e., Stefan Nemanja, for the development of Serbian collective consciousness.
In the artistic part of the program, Anja Kovačević, a member of the vocal workshop “Bistrik” (led by Biljana Biljа Krstić) and of the Choir of the Temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade, performed the traditional song “Rasti, rasti, moj zeleni borе” (Grow, grow, my green pine tree).
Professor Dr. Branislav Đorđević, the Institute’s director, expressed his gratitude to Father Branko and everyone who contributed to this year’s celebration of the Institute’s patron saint’s day.
