Research fellow at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, Dr. Dragan Trailović, delivered an inaugural lecture titled “Internal Challenges to the Belt and Road Initiative: The Role of Xinjiang and the Uyghur Issue”.
Dr. Trailović pointed out that Xinjiang is a key geopolitical and economic hub, but it also presents significant challenges for the Belt and Road Initiative. The Uyghur issue, combined with international pressure, represents a multidimensional problem that will continue to shape the future of the region and the relations between China and the rest of the world.
