At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the director and deputy director of the Institute, Prof. Branislav Đorđević and Dr. Ivona Lađevac represented the Republic of Serbia at the conference “Seventy years of five principles of peaceful coexistence”.

Conference was moderated by the President of the Chinese government, Li Qiang, while Chinese President, Xi Jinping, delivered a keynote speech in the Great Hall of the People of the People’s Republic of China. At the conference, which was attended by numerous presidents of countries and governments around the world, ambassadors of countries accredited to China, the entire Government of the People’s Republic of China, as well as representatives of leading Chinese and world academic institutions, Chinese President delivered a historically important speech on the importance of the five principles of peaceful coexistence which are embedded in the foundations of the Non-Aligned Movement and which represent the foundation of the foreign policy of the Republic of Serbia. In his speech, among other things, President Xi announced a new Chinese strategy in relation to the countries of the Global South.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi, opened the second part of the conference, which was held in four parallel panels. During the conversation with the director of the Institute, Minister Yi confirmed the determination of the People’s Republic of China to build a common future with Serbia, the highest level of relations that China has with any country.

The delegation of the Institute participated in the work of the panel “Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence: Contemporary Value of Asian Wisdom”, which was moderated by H.E. Chen Bo, director of the China Institute of International Studies and former Chinese ambassador to Serbia.
