H. E. Mr. Madi Atamkulov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Serbia, held a lecture “Kazakhstan as a Middle Power” under the auspices of the Ambassadorial Forum.

Mr. Atamkulov provided a comprehensive review of the foreign policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and drew attention to trends in internal political development, as well as the cultural, ethnic and religious characteristics of the country’s population. Starting from the premise that the Kazakhstan’s foreign policy is multi-vector, Ambassador Atamkulov emphasized the fruitful relations with Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, as well as the strategic partnership with the U.S. He highlighted Kazakhstan’s influence within multilateral forums of cooperation and its initiatives in UN institutions, based on principles such as sovereign equality, territorial integrity, and peaceful co-existence.

Regarding potential directions of further cooperation between Serbia and Kazakhstan, Mr. Atamkulov underlined areas of mutual interest such as culture, agriculture, farming, and sports.

The lecture was followed by an exhibition featuring photos of notable Kazakh women and their cuisine, attended by researchers, volunteers, and guests of the IIPE.
