In line with tradition, the Institute of International Politics and Economic organized the online celebration of the Chinese New Year, known as Spring Festival, under the title of “Awaiting the Year of the Tiger”.

“Strength, courage and determination. Self-confidence and faith in values. This is how the Chinese people view the tiger, king of animals. This is also how we view Serbian-Chinese cooperation – as audacious and made of steel”, director of the Institute, prof. dr Branislav Đorđević, said in his opening remarks, wishing Chinese friends a happy New year.

The head of the Centre for the “Belt and Road” Studies, dr Katarina Zakić, in her presentation underlined the customs and symbols associated with the marking of the Chinese New Year. The director of the Confucius centre in Banja Luka, dr Ljiljana Stević, presented a range of activities which her organization prepared for the celebration of the Spring Festival.

Her intervention was followed by a video recording of a Chinese traditional music number, performed by high school students from Republika Srpska, participants of the Chinese language course.

The celebration was closed by the deputy director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics, dr Ivona Lađevac, who wished for the next celebration, in 2023, to be held live, with the full participation of friends and colleagues from Republika Srpska and the People’s Republic of China.

To all its partners from the People’s Republic of China, IIPE wishes happy Chinese New Year:
