International Scientific Conference

The Institute of International Politics and Economics and Doshisha University marked tenth year of cooperation by organizing a conference titled “Social and Economic Problems and Challenges in Contemporary World”. The conference was held on September 12th 2016, at the IIPE, with the participation of 17 presenters. The conference divided in three panels was opened with speeches of Prof. Taro Tsukimura of Doshisha University, H.E. Juichi Takahara, Аmbassador of Japan, Mr. Aleksandar Janković, and Head of the Department for Asia, Pacific and Australia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, and of IIPE`s director Branislav Đorđević. Conference, divided in three panels covered major challenges in contemporary world from the issue of natiоnal sovereignty and referendums (Tsukimura), through bioethical challenges (Đurković), world war prospects (Janković), analysis of the changing Global strategy of EU and its implications vis-a-vis Western Balkans (Higashino). Analysis of the process of civilian takeover of political power in Turkey (Iwasaka), of the UK`s identity in light of the Brexit, case of Ebola and securitization of health (Novičić), position of the Japanese women in science and engineering (Kodate) and UN Blue Helmets as security threat – as sexual predators (Korać) along other papers offered diverse insights in multitude of social and economic processes of the contemporary world.
