National Scientific Conference

The Institute of International Politics and Economics organized a national scientific conference entitled "Serbia and UN: Lessons from the Past and Vision for the Future," at Serbia Palace, on October 22nd 2015. The conference was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the UN Country Team in Serbia, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations. Within the ceremonial part, opening remarks were given by H.E. Mr. Ivica Dačić, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu, Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UN Office in Belgrade, Ms. Irena Vojackova Solorano (Irena Vojáčková Sollorano), UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia and prof. Branislav Đordjević, Director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics. The ceremonial part included opening of exhibition devoted to UN Day as well, which was followed by scientific conference’ opening. Within four panels, 17 representatives of the academic and scientific community presented their research papers. The conference comprised issues related to principal questions of the UN, the issues of international peace and security, human rights and international criminal law, as well as environmental protection and sustainable development. The conference was moderated by Dragan Đukanović, PhD, Senior Research Fellow of IIPE, Srđan Korać, PhD, Research Fellow of IIPE and Marko Novaković, PhD, Research Associate of IIPE.
